  3. Shawnie you are such an amazing girl! I admit that I don't know you as well as many do, but that doesn't mean that you haven't touched my life. I have watched you since we moved into this ward 9 years ago. I have been thoroughly entertained by your excellent driving ability, and I have seen how your smile brightens up a room and I have felt the spirit draw nigh as you bear your testimony. You have such a strong spirit and a vibrant personality! It has been fun getting to know you a little bit better because of Girl's Camp! I never knew that you loved music so much and that you loved to dance! You've got a killer groove!!!! You are such an inspiration to so many people. When you feel sad just remember how many people love you and are saying prayers to help bring you comfort and peace. You are such a strong and beautiful young woman! You are facing something truly scary. And it's ok to be afraid. But just don't let that fear crush your courage! "Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest"(Joshua 1:9) I will be thinking of you everyday sweet, courageous Shawnie! Good Luck!!!

  5. Dear Shawnie,
We're sending you lots of prayers, love and good wishes from Down Under!! We'll be thinking of you and know that Heavenly Father will bless and watch over you. We hope that one day soon your Mom will bring you down to visit. In fact, we think you should start hassling her now, you have 6 whole weeks to wear her down, you can accomplish a LOT of nagging in that time :) We have a HUGE list of places that we'd love to take you.

    We think you're a SUPERSTAR!

    Love you lots,

  10. Shawnie,
We are thinking of you and praying for you as a family! I loved having you in my primary class. You made it a lot more enjoyable and fun. I loved teaching you about the word of wisdom, especially the gross parts! When I pick up my guitar over the next few days, I'll be thinking about you as I strum its strings. I hope everything goes well!

  14. Lessons learned from Shawnie will be with me forever. Shawnie taught me never to give up. No matter what you have to fight through, you keep going. Shawnie taught me to love the moment, to try something new, and to laugh out loud as often as possible. Shawnie taught me to always be true to myself. She showed me that it is always better to be true to yourself than to try and please others. Determination is Shawnie's middle name. But most of all, Shawnie taught me to love no matter what happens. Her heart is open to others needs. I love you Shawnie.

  15. Hi Shawnie,
You are such an amazing girl. I remember the first day Hannah came to kindergarten class. She was really nervous and scaried. I remember you were onebof the first people to come say hi to her. You and Hannah were close friends. You have always been a happy person, with a great personality. I hope everything goes well with your surgery. You have an amazing family. Our heavenly father is going to help you through this. Keep praying and try and stay positive:) lots of love Heather Monson

  17. Hi Shawnie

You have a blog! How cool is that!! Today is your surgery day, and we have already ask Heavenly Father to bless you and He has helped us to know that He will. Here's another really great thing....you have a Mom and a Dad and a Sister who are the BEST!!!!! We love them as we love you and Heavenly Father will bless them too. We'll come up some time next week and you'll probably still be in intensive care so we can't see you but we can give hugs to anybody else that will let us hug them and they can pass them on to you. Love you, Shawnie!

    XOXOXO Von and Patty

  18. Hi Shawnie! It's your Mom's cousin Jennifer from Idaho!

We said a special prayer for you today. You are an amazingly strong young lady! You are an inspiration to all who have had the honor of meeting you. I know that you have a wonderful and strong relationship with our Father in Heaven, and I know that he will keep his loving arms around you during this new trial in your life.

I would like to share with you a poem that I have always loved.

    A Place for Me

There is a special place in life,
    That needs my humble skill,
A certain Job I'm meant to do,
Which no one else can fulfill.

    The time will be demanding,
And the pay is not too good
And yet I wouldn't change it
for a moment -- even if I could.

There is a special place in life,
    A Goal I must attain,
A dream that I must follow,
Because I won't be back again.
There is a mark that I must leave,
However small it seems to be,
A legacy of love for those
    Who follow after me.

There is a special place in life,
    That only I may share,
A little path that bears my name,
    Awaiting me somewhere.
There is a hand that I must hold,
A word that I must say,
A smile that I must give,
For there are tears to blow away.

There is a special place in life
That I was meant to fill,
A sunny spot where flowers grow,
    Upon a windy hill.
There's always a tomorrow and the best is yet to be,
    And somewhere in this world,
I know there is a place for me!
